End of cohabitation
You live together and separate. That also means you will have to arrange certain matters concerning your pension. Did you register your partner with the pension fund? If so, you will need to deregister your partner. This is necessary to calculate your pension.
Retirement pension
When cohabitation ends, your former partner is not entitled to part of your retirement pension (equalisation).
Special partner's pension
After a relationship with your partner ends, your former partner is entitled to (a part of) the partner’s pension. Specifically, all the partner's pension that has been accrued until you separate and that has not already been allocated to another former partner. This is called special partner's pension.
What should you do?
- Deregister your partner in My Pension, and
- Send us a copy or scan of the notarial deed showing that your cohabitation agreement has ended, or
- Send us a jointly drawn up declaration stating the date the cohabitation ended. Both sign the declaration and have a notary legalise your signature and that of your partner.
Special partner's pension for former partner
If you opt for the standard scheme or if you have not made a choice, you do not have to notify the pension fund. We will organize the special partner's pension for your former partner.
You and your former partner have made other arrangements
Record the arrangements in a written agreement and send us a copy. We will then organize the special partner's pension according to your agreements.
